Anyone have any info on Peter Shallenberg the weaver? What were his signatures in his weaving? What area did he cover? There is a coverlet in my family passed down to the eldest daughter of each generation. When I took it to the smithsonian I was told Peter Shallenberg could be one of the possible weavers. It is a Jacguard woven coverlet that originally belonged to Anna Ronk Kauffman (1801-1846). The coverlet has been donated to the Juniata Co Historical Society Tuscarora Museum. The coverlet has on each corner an eagle emblem and the words "Juniata Co Pa, 1839, P.S." This is the signature of the weaver, who it is believed could be Peter Shallenberg, and the date of the coverlet.
